Police in Pratapgarh have arrested a man in possession of three homemade sutli bombs during a routine checking drive in the Nawabganj area. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing crackdown on crime and criminals in the district, and a case has been registered under the Explosives Substances Act.

The accused has been identified as Gyanchand alias Bachanu, 33, son of Feru Saroj, a resident of Murassapur village under Nawabganj police station jurisdiction. He was detained when police personnel conducting checks on suspicious individuals and vehicles stopped him for questioning. During a search, three country-made sutli bombs were recovered from his possession.

The checking operation was carried out under the supervision of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar, Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Brijanandan Rai, and Circle Officer Kunda Shiv Narayan Vaish. The police team was conducting vehicle and pedestrian checks in the Nawabganj police area when they apprehended the suspect.

Following the recovery of the explosive devices, a case numbered 135/2025 has been registered at Nawabganj police station under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the bombs and their intended use.

The operation was carried out by a police team comprising Senior Sub-Inspector Rajnarayan Singh, Sub-Inspector Akil Ahmed, Constables Ritesh Kumar and Ranjit Yadav, and Head Constable-Driver Indrajit Singh. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the accused has any previous criminal record or whether more suspects are being sought in connection with the case.
