Kanpur police arrest wanted criminal with 10,000 rupee bounty, solve robberies

Police in Kanpur Dehat's Akbarpur station have arrested a wanted accused carrying a bounty of 10,000 rupees under a special drive aimed at crime control and apprehension of wanted criminals. The arrest has led to the resolution of robbery and chain-snatching incidents in the district, and cash has been recovered from the accused's possession.

The 20-year-old wanted accused was apprehended by the Akbarpur police team during the night intervening September 12 and 13, 2026, at approximately 02:10 hours near Barajod bridge. The accused has been identified as Shivendra Singh Pal alias Nitin Pal, aged around 20 years. He is originally a resident of village Sandalpur under Derapur police station jurisdiction but was recently residing at U.P.S.I.D.C. Navipur Jainpur, which falls under Akbarpur police station area. The operation was conducted under the direction of senior officers and the able leadership of Area Officer Bhognipur, Sanjay Kumar Singh.

During police interrogation, the accused confessed to snatching a gold chain from the neck of a woman in Navipur Jainpur on the morning of January 26, 2026. He admitted that he committed this crime along with his associates Nikhil Yadav, Dheeraj Gurjar, and Pradeep Dixit alias Deepak Dixit. In addition to this, the accused also confessed to having taken a passerby hostage a few days earlier and robbing him of 10,000 rupees.

Cash amounting to 1,700 rupees, which remained from the looted amount, has been recovered from the arrested accused. The accused has a criminal history with two cases registered against him at Akbarpur police station. The first case is registered as Case No. 033/2026 under Sections 309(6), 317(2), and 3(5) BNS. The second case is registered as Case No. 035/2026 under Sections 3, 25, and 27 of the Arms Act along with Section 109(2) BNS.

The successful arrest was carried out by a police team comprising Sub-Inspector Nar Singh who is the in-charge of Jainpur outpost, Sub-Inspector Shobhit Katiyar who is the in-charge of Bara outpost, Constable Anurag Bajpayee, Constable Ankita Sharma, and driver Mahendra Singh. Their roles in this operation have been commendable.

Following the arrest, police have conducted a medical examination of the accused and have initiated legal proceedings to present him before the court.
