Kanpur Police Arrest 3 Over Dacoity That Left Businessman Critical

Kanpur South Zone Police have arrested three alleged habitual criminals accused of carrying out incidents of theft and dacoity in the city, officials said.

According to the police, the three accused were involved in a theft case in Barra and a dacoity at the house of a chemical businessman in Govind Nagar. The dacoity was allegedly carried out after the accused entered the businessman’s house. During the incident, the businessman and his wife were brutally assaulted. The businessman’s condition is stated to be serious, and he is in hospital, where he is battling for his life.

Police said the arrests came after action by a joint team of Barra and Govind Nagar police. The team arrested all three accused in connection with the cases. Officials also said that nearly 100 per cent of the stolen property has been recovered from their possession.

During police questioning, it emerged that all three accused are addicted to intoxicants. Police said they used to consume narcotic substances before committing the offences.

The arrested accused have been identified as Faisal, Vishal and Deepak. Police said Faisal and Vishal already have 7 cases each registered against them, while Deepak has 5 previous cases registered against him.

Details of the entire operation and the arrests were shared by DCP South Deependranath Choudhary during a press conference. He also rewarded the police team for its commendable work by announcing a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

DCP South further said that major action under the Gangster Goonda Act will also be taken against the accused soon.
