Kanpur Mayor Directs Departments To Speed Up Damaged Road Repairs

The Kanpur Municipal Corporation administration has started a review of the city’s bad and damaged roads, with Mayor Pramila Pandey holding an important meeting at the Municipal Corporation headquarters with officials from PWD, Jal Nigam, the Municipal Corporation and KESCO.

The meeting focused on the poor condition of roads across Kanpur and on repair work that has remained pending after departmental works. Officials were asked to provide details about roads that have been damaged because of potholes or because of work carried out by different departments.

Mayor Pramila Pandey instructed the concerned departments to work in coordination with each other and ensure that road repair work is completed within a fixed timeline. The emphasis was on speeding up repairs and preventing delays after roads are dug up for pipeline, electricity and other works.

Municipal Commissioner Arpit Upadhyay was also present in the meeting, along with officials of the departments concerned.

According to the review, roads in several parts of Kanpur have been damaged at different places. The Municipal Corporation, along with the related departments, discussed the condition of such roads and sought information from officials about where repairs are still pending.

A key issue raised in the meeting was the delay in repairing roads after they are dug up for departmental work. Cases related to road digging for pipeline work, electricity work and other works were also discussed with the officials.

The Mayor directed the officials to maintain better coordination among departments so that road repair work does not remain stuck after any department carries out digging. She also asked them to complete the work within the decided timeframe.

The focus of the meeting was clear: once any department digs up a road, its repair should not be left pending. After this review, it remains to be seen how quickly the concerned departments act on road repair work in Kanpur.
