The case of the death of Arjun alias Shailesh Gautam in police custody at Patti Kotwali in Pratapgarh has intensified, with Dinesh Tiwari, district president of the Janasatta Dal Loktantrik Yuva Prakoshth and leader from Patti Assembly, demanding a fair and high-level investigation into the entire matter.
Dinesh Tiwari reached village Molanapur and met the family members of the deceased, Arjun Gautam alias Shailesh. He offered condolences to the family and said the entire episode should be investigated impartially. He also said that whoever is found guilty should face strict action as per rules, and efforts would be made to ensure such action.
After meeting the family of Arjun alias Shailesh Gautam, Dinesh Tiwari also visited the house of the Dubey family, whose members have been named as accused in the case registered by the police. He met the family members there and listened to their side of the matter.
Tiwari said that if Arjun alias Shailesh Gautam died in police custody, then the circumstances under which a case was registered against the Dubey family, along with the entire sequence of events, must be investigated at a high level and in an impartial manner. He assured the Dubey family that Janasatta Dal Loktantrik stands with them and said that no innocent person should be allowed to suffer injustice.
Dinesh Tiwari also spoke over the phone with the area officer (CO) regarding the postmortem report and other information related to the case. During the conversation, he raised the demand for a fair investigation and for the facts of the matter to be brought out.
He said that in this entire case, both families appear to be in the position of victims. One family has lost a member, while members of the other family have had a case registered against them. For this reason, he said, it is necessary that both families get an impartial investigation and justice.
Tiwari further said that in a serious matter such as a death in police custody, all facts must be investigated fairly, so that action is taken against the real culprits and no innocent person is unnecessarily sent to jail.
