IPS officer Vineet Jaiswal takes charge as new Sultanpur SP in UP reshuffle

IPS officer Vineet Jaiswal has assumed charge as the new Superintendent of Police of Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. The 2014-batch officer took over the position on Sunday following a major reshuffle in the state police department. Prior to this appointment, Jaiswal was serving as the SP of Gonda district. He replaces Charu Nigam, who has been transferred to Lucknow as SP, UP-112.

Shortly after taking charge, the new police chief held a detailed meeting with gazetted officers to review the law and order situation and crime scenario in the district. Jaiswal sought information about conditions in different police station areas and issued necessary directives focusing on crime control. He instructed officers to maintain heightened vigilance in sensitive areas and keep a close watch on activities that could disturb law and order. The SP emphasized that police must reach the spot immediately upon receiving information about any incident and take effective action.

During the meeting, Jaiswal stressed the importance of timely resolution of public grievances on a priority basis. He called for better communication and coordination between police personnel and common citizens, stating that maintaining peace and law and order in the district is the primary objective of the police force. He directed all officers to work in coordination with each other and take public concerns seriously while ensuring their resolution.

The transfer of Jaiswal to Sultanpur was part of a broader reshuffle carried out by the Uttar Pradesh government on August 20, 2026, affecting nine IPS officers. This administrative shuffle changed police leadership in seven districts, including Gonda, Meerut, Jhansi, Bijnor, Balrampur, and Sambhal, besides Sultanpur. The Sultanpur Police official website has already updated its records listing Vineet Jaiswal as the district's Superintendent of Police.

The new SP faces significant responsibilities including strengthening crime control, maintaining robust law and order, increasing police presence in sensitive areas, and ensuring swift redressal of public complaints across the district.
