Health screening camp checks 63 school vehicle drivers for fitness and eyesight

A health and vision screening camp for school vehicle drivers and conductors was organized on Saturday at Guru Kripa Divine Grace Public School in Bahraich as part of Mission Safe Future 2.0, an ongoing initiative by the Transport Department aimed at ensuring safer travel for schoolchildren. The camp examined 63 drivers and conductors, checking their general health status and eyesight to confirm they are physically and visually fit to operate vehicles carrying children on public roads.

Health specialists and departmental personnel conducted thorough examinations during the camp, assessing whether drivers transporting students are capable of safely operating their vehicles. The initiative is designed to strengthen safety protocols for school transport and prevent road accidents involving children commuting to and from educational institutions.

ARTO Sushil Kumar, addressing the gathering, stressed that the safety of schoolchildren is the highest responsibility of everyone involved. He instructed drivers to strictly follow traffic rules, adhere to prescribed speed limits, and avoid using mobile phones while driving. He emphasized that driving under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited and urged drivers to wear seat belts and ensure children are seated securely inside vehicles. Kumar made it clear that no negligence regarding children's safety in school vehicles would be tolerated at any level.

Officials at the camp also briefed drivers on various aspects of road safety and necessary precautions to prevent accidents. Drivers were urged to exercise patience and caution while driving and to consider safely delivering children to their destinations as their primary responsibility. ARTO Kumar explained that Mission Safe Future 2.0 focuses on both strengthening safety arrangements for school vehicles and raising awareness among drivers to effectively curb road accidents and provide secure transport facilities for students. The event was attended by ARTO Sushil Kumar, Traffic Area Officer Raj Singh, Health Department AO Mohammad Makbool Haider Jafri, Arun Yadav, Abdur Rahim, and other officials from the transport, traffic, and health departments.
