Youths held a protest in Hathras in support of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and submitted a memorandum addressed to the President through the District Magistrate, putting forward their demands. The protest was led by workers from the Sasni Gate area, who reached the Police Lines in dozens and raised slogans in support of the Election Commission.
During the protest, the demonstrators tore posters and voiced their support for the Election Commission. They carried pictures of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raised the slogan “CEC जिंदाबाद”. The memorandum was handed over through the District Magistrate for submission to the President.
Several youths took part in the demonstration, including Deepak Sharma, Sandhya Arya, Shivam Pandit Nagariya, Sundaram Sharma, Harshit Gaur, Dev Jaiswal, Abhishek Ranjan Arya and Sunil Agarwal.
Deepak Sharma alleged that attempts were being made to spread anarchy in the country in the name of protests and to damage the image of the Election Commission. He said that reports of incidents involving assaults on police personnel and the tearing of their uniforms during protests were a matter of concern.
Sharma also alleged that efforts were being made to create conditions in the country similar to those in Nepal and Bangladesh. These claims were made during the protest and have not been independently confirmed.
He further said that action was allegedly being taken by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to remove infiltrators and fake voters. Sharma questioned the alleged attempts to defame the Election Commission and demanded action against the people concerned.
Sharma also alleged that a political party was trying to defame the Election Commission through foreign funding. However, there was no independent confirmation of this allegation.
Through the memorandum, the protesters demanded that the alleged disinformation campaign being conducted against the Chief Election Commissioner be stopped. They also demanded that those accused of misbehaving with and assaulting police personnel be identified on the basis of CCTV footage and face strict legal action.
The protesters said they were putting forward their views in support of the impartiality of the Election Commission. They urged the administration to take appropriate action in the matter.
The source material identified a byte from Deepak Sharma, founder of the Rashtra Swabhiman Dal.
