Outsourcing employees in Hathras staged a protest on Wednesday after being suddenly removed from work following nearly three years of service in aided secondary schools. A large number of employees reached the office of the District Inspector of Schools and raised slogans in anger. They also submitted a memorandum to officials, demanding that their services be continued and that they be taken back on duty.

The protesting employees said they had been carrying out their responsibilities in aided secondary schools through outsourcing for the past nearly three years. They alleged that they were suddenly removed from work from October 1. According to them, this has created a livelihood crisis and increased their financial difficulties.

The employees said their families’ expenses depended on their income. With the loss of their jobs, they are now facing problems in meeting those expenses. They expressed anger over the manner in which their services were ended and said the decision had affected not only their employment but also the livelihood of their families.

The employees also questioned the functioning of the department. They said their services had neither been renewed nor had they been given any clear information about a new tender process. Despite this, their services were suddenly terminated, they alleged.

The employees said that if the department intended to remove them, they should have been informed in advance. They said prior information would have given them an opportunity to make arrangements for alternative employment.

After staging the protest, the employees handed over a memorandum to the officials and informed them about their problems. Through the memorandum, they demanded that they be taken back on duty and that the necessary process for continuing the outsourcing services be completed soon.

The employees said the matter was not limited to jobs alone, as it was directly connected with the livelihood of their families. They urged the department to take a positive decision soon and provide them relief.

The protest and the memorandum have now put the focus on the department’s next step. The employees are waiting to see what action is taken by the department after their demands were placed before the officials.
