District Magistrate Satya Prakash Patel directed officials to ensure 100 per cent revenue collection against the targets set by the government, warning that negligence in revenue recovery would not be tolerated. He issued the instructions during a review meeting on tax, non-tax and revenue collection held in the Collectorate auditorium in Hathras on Wednesday, 7 October.

The District Magistrate said that revenue collection was among the government’s top priorities. He asked officials to work with complete seriousness, transparency and accountability. He also directed them to run campaigns to achieve the targets fixed by the government and ensure that the entire revenue amount was recovered.

The meeting included a detailed review of the collection of main and miscellaneous dues, tax and non-tax revenue receipts, pending RCs, and revenue-related work at the tehsil and department levels. The Additional District Magistrate, Finance and Revenue, presented department-wise details of revenue collected up to September 2026 against the annual targets of various departments.

The District Magistrate took a strict view of the comparatively low collection in some departments. He directed the officials of departments with low recovery to conduct campaigns, speed up the collection of outstanding dues and complete the assigned targets within the stipulated time.

He specifically instructed the Commercial Tax, Stamp and Excise departments to conduct special campaigns in view of their comparatively low revenue collection. At the same time, he made it clear that no person should face unnecessary harassment during the recovery process. He said action must be taken impartially and strictly according to the rules.

The District Magistrate also issued instructions regarding land verification before the registration of sale deeds. He directed the AIG Stamp to conduct physical verification at the concerned plot before the deed was executed and submit an impartial and transparent report.

He warned that if the report was found to be incorrect, responsibility would be fixed on the concerned officer or employee. The District Magistrate said that physical verification of the land would help effectively check land disputes and problems that could arise in the future.

Instructions were also issued to prevent illegal mining in the district. The District Magistrate directed the Mining Officer to ensure that illegal mining did not take place under any circumstances. All Sub-Divisional Magistrates were asked to conduct regular checking campaigns in their respective areas to maintain effective control over illegal mining and transportation.

The officials were further instructed to take strict action according to the rules against anyone found involved in illegal mining. The District Magistrate also directed them to maintain continuous monitoring of the situation.

The condition of facilities in the mandis was another issue discussed in the meeting. The Mandi Secretary was directed to keep all necessary arrangements in the mandis in proper order. The District Magistrate said that farmers coming to the mandis should not face any kind of inconvenience.

He asked the Sub-Divisional Magistrates to inspect the mandis in their respective areas, review the available arrangements and ensure that necessary improvements were made wherever required.

In view of the upcoming festivals, the District Magistrate directed the District Excise Officer to conduct a campaign and take effective steps to stop the sale of illegal and counterfeit liquor. The Sub-Divisional Magistrates were also instructed to inspect fireworks warehouses and shops.

They were asked to ensure safety and other necessary arrangements at places where fireworks were being sold, in accordance with the prescribed standards.

The District Magistrate directed officials to speed up the recovery of pending RCs at the tehsil level. He said that pending recovery cases related to different departments should be reviewed and monitored regularly.

He clearly stated that any kind of laxity or negligence in the revenue recovery work would not be accepted.

The meeting was attended by the Divisional Forest Officer, all Sub-Divisional Magistrates, the Officer-in-Charge of the Collectorate, the District Excise Officer, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, the Commercial Tax Officer, the Executive Officers of the Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats, the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, and officials of the departments concerned.
