The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Hathras conducted a surprise inspection of the Community Health Centre (CHC) Hasayan on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at 2:42 pm. During the inspection, the CMO reviewed the hospital’s arrangements, cleanliness, emergency services, delivery room and newborn care room.

The CMO also issued necessary instructions to the staff nurses after examining the matter of low-weight newborn babies being discharged from the hospital without adequate care. The instructions focused on ensuring that such newborns are kept under proper observation and care according to their health condition.

At the time of the inspection, all regular officers and employees of the state government were found present at the hospital. However, some employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) were found absent. Notices had already been issued to these employees on 9 October for remaining absent without authorisation.

The CMO directed the hospital staff to further improve cleanliness across the hospital premises. In the emergency room, all necessary medicines were found available, while the equipment was found to be in working condition. The equipment in the delivery room was also found to be functioning properly.

Three pregnant women were found admitted in the delivery room during the inspection. They expressed satisfaction with the services being provided by the Health Department.

During the inspection of the newborn care room, the staff nurses posted there were unable to give a satisfactory explanation for the short time taken to discharge admitted low-weight babies. Following this, the CMO directed that low-weight newborn babies should be kept admitted for at least one to two days in future, based on their health condition.

The CMO further instructed that these babies should receive proper care during their stay and should be discharged from the hospital only after they become healthy. The direction was issued in view of the need to ensure appropriate care for newborns with low weight before they leave the facility.

The inspection also covered the lighting arrangements in the hospital premises. The CMO directed that the lighting system be improved so that patients and their attendants do not face any inconvenience.

The government engineer present at the spot was instructed to ensure adequate lighting across the hospital premises within 24 hours. The direction covered the need to make the entire campus sufficiently lit for patients and their attendants.
