Traders in Ghaziabad have announced an indefinite protest against the municipal corporation's increased house tax, starting August 6 at Nav Yug Market. The decision was made during a meeting on Wednesday, where traders unanimously agreed to hold peaceful demonstrations daily from 11 AM to 2 PM until their demands are met. They argue that the hike is impractical and places an undue financial burden on both businesses and residents.

The traders are demanding an immediate rollback of the increased house tax and a review of the tax determination process to provide relief to the community. Raj Kishore Gupta, convenor of the meeting and patron of the Sarrafa Association, emphasized that the protest will continue until the municipal corporation takes positive action. He urged all trader associations and residents to join the movement.

The Ghaziabad RWA Federation has extended its full support to the traders. Federation chairman R.K. Garg stated, "The increased house tax is an issue affecting the entire city, not just traders. We stand firmly with them in this fight for public interest." Garg added that the federation plans to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath soon to highlight this issue and other civic concerns.

Prominent figures, including Congress leader Satish Sharma, Samajwadi Party leader Abhishek Garg, and several other community representatives, attended the meeting. They expressed unanimous opposition to the tax hike, calling it a city-wide issue that needs immediate resolution.

The protest is expected to draw widespread participation, with traders and residents coming together to demand relief from what they describe as an unfair financial burden.
