Ghaziabad: Pet dog allegedly attacks mother and child inside home; couple booked
A Shipra Suncity resident alleges a neighbour’s dog attacked her daughter-in-law and young grandson. A supplied FIR copy records a case against the couple.
A pet dog allegedly entered a home in Shipra Suncity, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, and attacked a woman and her approximately one-year-old son. Complainant Shashi Kalyan says her daughter-in-law and grandson were with her at the time. A supplied copy of the FIR records a case at Indirapuram police station against neighbours Hitendra Jain and his wife, Pooja Jain. The confrontation during efforts to protect the family from the dog led to allegations of verbal abuse, brick-throwing and threats.

Incident alleged on the evening of October 17
In her complaint, Shashi Kalyan describes herself as a retired accounts officer and a widow living alone. She says her daughter-in-law and approximately one-year-old grandson had come to stay with her for about a month. At around 6:10 pm on October 17, 2026, she was leaving the house with them. She alleges that the neighbour’s pet dog entered her home and began aggressively attacking her daughter-in-law and the small child.
Complaint says a small stone was picked up in defence
The complaint states that a small stone was picked up in self-defence for the immediate protection of the family. It then alleges that Hitendra Jain threw a large brick and pieces of brick towards Shashi Kalyan. She writes that a photograph of the large brick thrown at her was attached to the complaint. She says the incident left her daughter-in-law and the young child extremely frightened and made her fear for the family’s safety.
Allegations of abuse and intimidation
The complainant alleges that Hitendra and Pooja Jain shouted abuse in the public lane outside her home. Pooja is also accused of encouraging her husband, while Hitendra is accused of invoking influential connections to intimidate the complainant. The complaint asks police to record statements from people nearby, as well as neighbours and tenants who came outside after hearing the commotion. A response from the accused persons was not available for this report.
Earlier complaints about the dog being left uncontrolled
According to Shashi Kalyan, the dog had previously been allowed out without a leash or control and had entered her home several times. She refers to earlier complaints and meetings with neighbours and residents’ welfare association representatives. The complaint says a meeting was arranged for the morning of October 18 to resolve the matter, but Hitendra did not attend. A decision was then taken to submit a formal police complaint.
