Ghaziabad police arrest serial burglar, recover jewelry worth lakhs

Ghaziabad Bhojpur police have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a notorious burglar involved in house burglaries and recovering jewelry worth lakhs of rupees from his possession.

According to a press note issued by the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate, a complaint was filed at Bhojpur police station on 25.08.2026 by the complainant stating that an unknown burglar had broken the lock of the house and stolen gold and silver jewelry along with cash. Based on the complaint, a case was immediately registered under sections 331(4)/305 BNS at Bhojpur police station and a team was formed to arrest the accused.

Acting on information from an informer, the police team from Bhojpur police station and the SWAT team of the Rural Zone arrested the accused identified as Arif alias Kala son of Hasrat, resident of village Dehra, police station Dhaulana, district Hapur, from the Bhojpur police station area.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had stolen the recovered jewelry along with his two accomplices Furkan and Sameer during the night from village Sukarra Garhi. He also admitted that one gold necklace set and one pair of silver anklets had been stolen earlier from village Amrala.

The police have recovered various items from the accused's possession. The yellow metal jewelry includes one necklace set, one mangalsutra, one tika, one pendant, one nose ring, two rings, two Om pendants for the neck, and one pair of earrings. The white metal jewelry recovered includes five pairs of anklets and one necklace. Based on the recovery, section 317(2) BNS has been added to the case.

Police have identified two wanted accomplices in the case. The first is Furkan son of Ikhlaq, resident of village Dehra, police station Dhaulana, district Hapur, aged approximately 32 years. The second is Sameer son of Pappu, resident of village Dehra, police station Dhaulana, district Hapur, aged approximately 20 years.

According to police, the arrested accused Arif alias Kala is a habitual offender. A total of 15 cases are registered against him. These include one burglary case at Bhojpur police station, one previous burglary case, two cases at Kavinagar police station, three cases at Dhaulana police station, three cases at Pilkhuwa police station in Hapur district, four robbery and burglary cases at Sardhana police station, and one robbery case at Saroornagar police station in Meerut district. Information about his other criminal history is being gathered.

Police are searching for the absconding accomplices.
