Ghaziabad Police Arrest Man, Detain Two Juveniles In Murder Bid Case

Ghaziabad Police have arrested an accused in a case of attempt to murder and have also taken two juvenile offenders into custody, according to a press note issued by Police Commissionerate Ghaziabad.

The case is linked to an incident that took place on 24 September 2026. According to the press note, Harsh Chaudhary, son of complainant Vikas, who is the son of late Kunwar Pal Singh and a resident of Mehrauli, was attacked by 8-10 unidentified persons. Police said the attackers allegedly assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons with the intention of killing him.

Harsh suffered serious injuries in the attack. After receiving information about the incident, a case was registered at Kavinagar police station under the relevant sections.

Following the incident, the police formed a team to work on the case. On the basis of CCTV cameras installed around the spot and local intelligence inputs, the Kavinagar police station team arrested the accused on 26 September.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sumit Kanojia, son of Guddu, a resident of B-09, 25 Feet Road, Akash Nagar, Masuri, Ghaziabad. His age is stated to be around 24 years.

Police said Sumit Kanojia was arrested from the area of Chowki Govindpuram, near Govindpuram bus stand. Along with his arrest, two juvenile offenders were also taken into custody. Necessary legal action is being taken, the press note said.

During questioning, accused Sumit allegedly told police that the incident took place during a quarrel over mutual enmity. He also said that a knife had been used in the incident, and Harsh was stabbed.

The arrest was made in a joint action by Police Station Kavinagar, Police Commissionerate Ghaziabad, and the SWAT Team City, Commissionerate Ghaziabad.

Police said further investigation in the case is continuing.
