Firozabad Schools Closed on August 10 for Kanwar Yatra Safety

Firozabad district administration has announced a holiday for all schools located along the Kanwar Yatra route on Monday, August 10, citing heavy movement of devotees and traffic diversions during the religious event. The decision applies to all government, aided, private, CBSE, ICSE, and other board-affiliated schools in the district.

District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma issued the order, stating that offline classes will remain suspended for the day. However, to ensure that students’ education is not disrupted, schools have been directed to conduct online classes. The administration has also instructed educational institutions to strictly adhere to the guidelines.

The Kanwar Yatra, a significant religious event during the Hindu month of Shravan, sees thousands of devotees traveling to offer water from the Ganga to Lord Shiva. The influx of pilgrims often leads to traffic diversions and logistical challenges in cities along the route. In light of this, the district administration has taken preventive measures to minimize inconvenience and ensure public safety.

The decision aims to avoid any disruption to students and staff commuting to schools amidst the expected crowd and road closures. Authorities have emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth operations and ensuring the safety of all residents during the yatra.
