Female police constable accuses food inspector of promise-based seduction and forced abortion in Shravasti

A female police constable posted with the excise department in Shravasti has levelled serious allegations against a food inspector, accusing him of physical relations under the false promise of marriage and subsequently refusing to marry her after their engagement and the fixing of a wedding date. The woman constable has submitted a written complaint to the Assistant Superintendent of Police during Sampurna Samadhan Diwas, demanding an investigation into the matter and necessary action.

The woman constable, a resident of Deoria district and posted in the excise department, said that Adarsh Pratap, a resident of village panchayat Pilrawa under Raunahi police station area of Ayodhya district, lived near her room. Adarsh Pratap works as a food inspector. The woman constable alleged that due to living in close proximity, the two became acquainted with each other.

She alleged that on 1 January, Adarsh came to her house and forcibly attempted to establish physical relations. When she resisted, he gave her a promise of marriage. In March, she became pregnant and pressured him to marry her. Following this, Adarsh gave her medicine and made her undergo an abortion, she has alleged.

The woman constable further alleged that on 29 April, Adarsh got engaged to her in Deoria. A wedding date was also fixed for 7 December 2026. After the wedding date was fixed, Adarsh pressured her to stay in his room and continued to maintain physical relations with her, she said.

She stated that marriage preparations were underway at her home, but in the meantime Adarsh Pratap refused to marry her. The woman constable said that she has been running from pillar to post for justice but her case is not being heard. She has now approached the ASP seeking justice and investigation into the entire episode.
