A tragic road accident in Mirzapur claimed the lives of a father and son on Friday, sparking public outrage and a highway blockade. The incident occurred in the Vindhyachal police station area’s Gaipura village when an out-of-control container truck crashed into a roadside house, killing 45-year-old Shiv Prasad Gupta on the spot and critically injuring his 13-year-old son, Rohit Gupta. Despite efforts to rush the boy to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries en route.

According to reports, the container truck was transporting cement from Prayagraj to Mirzapur when the driver lost control, leading to the devastating crash. The accident not only resulted in the loss of two lives but also caused significant damage to nearby houses, leaving the area in chaos. Shocked and angered by the tragedy, local residents gathered in large numbers and staged a protest, blocking the Prayagraj-Mirzapur National Highway to demand action from authorities.

Senior officials, including the City Circle Officer and other police and administrative personnel, rushed to the scene to address the situation. They assured the grieving family of all possible assistance and promised strict action against those responsible for the accident. Following these assurances, the protesters lifted the blockade, and traffic on the highway was restored.

Residents of Gaipura expressed frustration over frequent accidents in the area, blaming them on speeding and heavy vehicles. They criticized the lack of effective measures to prevent such incidents and demanded permanent safety arrangements and traffic control mechanisms in the region.
