Eight-year-old boy drowns in pond near his home in Bahraich village

Three children drowned in a deep pond in Bahraich's Shivdaha Karghayya Purwa village under Payagpur police station on Sunday, resulting in the death of an eight-year-old boy identified as Guddu. Two other children were rescued alive after an hours-long operation by police and State Disaster Response Force teams.

The incident occurred in a pond located right in front of the victim's house. Local residents immediately alerted the authorities after the children went missing in the water. Police and SDRF personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation to pull the drowning children out of the deep pond.

After several hours of tireless efforts, the rescue teams managed to safely extract two of the three children from the water. However, eight-year-old Guddu could not be saved and was declared dead. His body was recovered from the pond and taken into police custody for further investigation and postmortem procedures.

The tragic death of the young boy has sent shockwaves through the village, with family members of the deceased in deep distress. Relatives and neighbors gathered at the scene as news of the drowning spread, creating a chaotic atmosphere outside the victim's home.

Police have registered the matter and initiated further action in accordance with standard procedures. The two children who were rescued are reported to be safe. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the pond had any safety barriers or warnings in place. Such drowning incidents involving children are unfortunately common in rural areas where open water bodies near residential zones pose a constant danger, especially during times when children play unsupervised near these hazardous locations.
