E-rickshaw driver protests Rs 14,000 challan by lying on road in Auraya

An e-rickshaw driver in Auraya lay down on the road in protest after being slapped with a challan of Rs 14,000 by traffic authorities. The driver, identified as Ankit, expressed his anger and frustration over what he called an unjustified penalty that has left him in financial distress.

Ankit alleged that he was on his way to buy medicine for his wife when he was stopped by the Provincial Transport Officer (PTO). According to him, the authorities issued a challan amounting to Rs 14,000 without proper justification. Unable to bear the burden of such a hefty fine, Ankit resorted to lying down on the road as a form of protest to draw attention to his plight.

E-rickshaw drivers, who typically earn modest daily incomes, are often vulnerable to heavy fines that can disrupt their livelihoods for weeks or even months. A penalty of Rs 14,000 represents a significant financial setback for someone in Ankit's profession, especially when the family is already dealing with medical expenses.
