E-Rickshaw Driver Arrested In Shravasti Woman’s Murder Case, Police Allege Rape Bid

Police have arrested e-rickshaw driver Bhage­lu Yadav in connection with the murder of Pushpa Shukla, whose body was found beside a canal in Shravasti. The arrest was announced in the case involving the recovery of the woman’s body near Dasiapur village, within the jurisdiction of Naveen Modern Police Station.

A murder case was registered against an unidentified person on October 11, based on a written complaint submitted by the deceased woman’s son, Shivam Shukla.

Police said they reached the accused with the help of call detail records (CDR), CCTV footage and circumstantial evidence. The investigation focused on establishing the sequence of events surrounding the woman’s death and identifying the person allegedly involved.

According to the police theory, the e-rickshaw driver was taking the woman home when he allegedly tried to rape her at a secluded location. Police have alleged that he killed her after she resisted and out of fear of being caught.

Police claimed that the accused was arrested on October 15 near Lakhnowa Farm, from Tilakpur village. The arrest was made in connection with the case registered after the woman’s body was found near the canal.

At the accused’s instance, police recovered the e-rickshaw allegedly used in the crime, along with the deceased woman’s bank passbook, ATM card and e-Shram card.

Police also added Section 238 of the BNS to the case. The accused has been sent to be produced before the court.
