District Magistrate Annapurna Garg leads meeting to enhance road safety in Shravasti

District Magistrate Annapurna Garg chaired a meeting of the district-level Road Safety Committee in Shravasti to address rising road accidents and enhance public safety. During the meeting, officials reviewed existing road safety measures and discussed strategies to curb accidents effectively. Garg directed authorities to take strict action against violations such as overspeeding, reckless driving, and disregard for traffic rules. She emphasized the need for inter-departmental coordination to ensure the effective implementation of safety regulations and increase public awareness about traffic rules.

Highlighting accident-prone areas, the District Magistrate instructed officials to identify high-risk zones and take corrective measures promptly. She stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of accidents and ensuring immediate medical aid for victims within the critical "golden hour" — the first hour after an accident. Garg urged authorities to improve ambulance response times and ensure their availability within the stipulated timeframe to minimize fatalities.

Additionally, the District Magistrate called for 100% compliance with traffic regulations across the district. She directed officials to assess existing black spots, implement corrective measures, and identify new ones. Garg also suggested installing safety signs, speed breakers, rumble strips, and reflective markers on major roads, curves, dividers, and trees along highways to reduce accidents.

Senior officials, including Additional District Magistrate Lalit Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police Chandrakesh Singh, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Mohammad Azim, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department K.P. Mishra, and District Basic Education Officer Akanksha Rawat, were present at the meeting. The discussions underscored the administration's commitment to making roads safer for the public.
