Vijayawada: Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated a new direct flight service connecting Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking at the launch event, the minister emphasized that this new route would strengthen religious and cultural ties between the two cities while giving a significant push to pilgrimage tourism.
According to the minister, the direct flight will make travel easier and more convenient for devotees visiting Andhra Pradesh's renowned Kanaka Durga Amma Temple and Uttar Pradesh's iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He highlighted that the service would save time and provide better air connectivity, benefiting people from both states.
The launch is part of the central government's ongoing efforts to enhance regional air connectivity across the country. Minister Naidu pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju Bhogapuram Airport, which is expected to accelerate the growth of the aviation sector in Andhra Pradesh.
He further shared updates on infrastructure developments in the state, stating that construction of new airport terminals in Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, and Kadapa is progressing rapidly. These projects, once completed, are expected to strengthen regional connectivity and promote tourism, trade, and economic activities in the region.
The new direct flight service is anticipated to make travel between Vijayawada and Varanasi faster, smoother, and more convenient, fostering stronger religious, cultural, and economic ties between the two cities.
