Delhi Police bust fake airline job racket that duped dozens of aspirants

Delhi Police have cracked a major fake airline job racket that duped dozens of job seekers by promising positions at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Six people have been arrested in the case, including the mastermind, his partner, a website developer, and three tele-callers who lured victims into the trap.

The gang operated under the names 'Bretish Airways'—a deliberately misspelled fake version of British Airways—and 'Future Wings Learning Institute'. They set up fraudulent websites and ran advertisements on social media platforms to attract unsuspecting youngsters desperate for aviation jobs. The gang purchased personal data of job seekers from online job portals and had tele-callers reach out to them, posing as HR officers from aviation companies. Victims were promised online aviation diplomas or courses that would lead to guaranteed employment.

Each candidate was charged between Rs 7,000 and Rs 10,000 as registration or admission fees. Once the money was transferred, all contact was cut off. As complaints began mounting, the gang rebranded itself multiple times, adopting new fictitious names like 'Shankh Airways' and 'Excellence Learning Institute' to continue the fraud. The operation was run from a rented office in Gaur City Centre Mall in Noida.

The arrested accused are Sandeep Kumar (23) from Greater Noida, identified as the mastermind, Akhil Kumar (27) from Moradabad who was a 50-50 partner, Rakesh Kumar (47) from Greater Noida West who developed the fake websites, and three female tele-callers—Shweta, Sapna, and Sakshi. Sandeep and Akhil were arrested on August 18, and technical investigation led police to the remaining four.

The case unravelled after a victim lodged a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (helpline 1930) on July 14, 2026, at the Cyber Police Station, Central District. Police traced mobile numbers, IPDR records, broadband details, website registrations, and bank and UPI transaction trails. Ten similar complaints were found on the portal. During raids, two laptops, eight mobile phones, eight SIM cards, and registers containing data of job seekers were recovered.

Police have advised job seekers never to pay money for job placements, warning that genuine airlines do not charge candidates any fees. They urged people to verify offers through official company websites before responding.
