A Dandiya Raas programme was organised for the young children of the Base Branch at Dewan Public School in Hapur on the occasion of Navratri. The school campus came alive with festive celebrations as the children took part in a series of cultural presentations and activities.
Following the tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava,” the children welcomed their mothers by applying tilak and showering flowers on them. The welcome ceremony set the tone for the programme, which focused on Indian traditions, culture and values.
Mamta Dewan, chairperson of the school’s management committee, and H. M. Raut, the director, said that organising such traditional festivals at the school was an effort to connect children with their संस्कार, culture, heritage and values.
The “Mobile Ravan” skit was one of the special attractions of the programme. Teachers, parents and children highly praised the performance. The young children then presented Garba, leaving everyone spellbound with their performance.
The children also presented the Ramayana in the form of a play. They appeared as Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, Mata Sita, Lord Lakshman, devotee Hanuman and other characters. Through the presentation, they showed the victory of good over evil. The performances moved all the spectators.
This was followed by a group Dandiya dance presented by the teachers of the Base Branch and the mothers of the children. The participants took part in the dance with enthusiasm, adding to the festive atmosphere on the school campus.
On the occasion, school principal Shubhra Awasthi thanked all the mothers who were present at the programme. She also honoured the winning participants by presenting them with Tulsi plants.
Shubhra Awasthi said that people who support such programmes to keep Indian civilisation and culture alive are great. The programme was made successful with the special contribution of Sushila Singh, coordinator of the Base Branch.
