Dalit teen abducted twice in a week despite police protection in UP

A 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly abducted for the second time in Shravasti district, raising serious questions about police security arrangements.

The teenager was forcibly taken away on a motorcycle near Lalpur crossing while being transported to Bhinga for medical examination and court proceedings. Family members have alleged that the main accused, along with several others, kidnapped the girl in broad daylight. A video of the incident is reportedly circulating, though it has not been independently verified.

The girl had first gone missing on September 2, following which a case was registered at Gilaula police station. Police had recovered the teenager after the initial disappearance.

According to family members, on September 5, while the girl was being taken to Bhinga, the accused forcibly made her sit on a motorcycle near Lalpur crossing and abducted her again.

The family has questioned the security provided by Gilaula police and demanded action from the SP. Circle Officer Ikauna has confirmed that the girl has been recovered and sent to a One Stop Centre.

The incident has raised critical questions about how the recovered teenager ended up in the alleged custody of the accused once again despite being under police protection.
