Custodial Death Raises Questions, Santosh And Aneesh Dubey Allegedly Framed

Questions have been raised over the death of Arjun Gautam in police custody at Patti Kotwali in Pratapgarh, with allegations that Santosh Dubey and Aneesh Dubey have been wrongly implicated in the case.

Jansatta Dal Loktantrik Yuva Prakoshth district president and Patti Assembly area leader Dinesh Tiwari, Advocate, met the District Magistrate of Pratapgarh on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum in connection with the case registered over Arjun Gautam’s death in police custody at Patti Kotwali.

Tiwari demanded that the entire matter be investigated in a fair and high-level manner, with the District Magistrate personally looking into the case. He said a death in police custody is an extremely serious matter and that the public must be able to see that justice is being done.

In the memorandum, Tiwari sought a fair investigation into FIR number 403/2026 registered at Patti police station. He also demanded that the District Magistrate personally ensure effective monitoring of the investigation so that the facts of the case come out clearly.

The memorandum described Santosh Dubey and Aneesh Dubey as victims and alleged that they had been falsely implicated in the matter. Tiwari demanded that a fair inquiry be conducted into the entire case and, if the allegations against both of them are found to be baseless during the investigation, immediate action should be taken to remove their names from the case.

Tiwari said that no innocent person should be trapped in the case and no guilty person should be protected. He said whether Arjun Gautam’s death was murder or suicide should be decided only on the basis of a fair investigation, available evidence and facts.

He also demanded that the magisterial inquiry into the custodial death be conducted with complete transparency. Tiwari said that if the role of any police personnel or any other person is found to be faulty in the investigation, strict legal action should be taken against them as per rules.

According to Tiwari, ensuring justice for the victim’s family and bringing out the truth of the entire case should be the priority. He urged the District Magistrate to ensure justice by getting a quick and impartial investigation conducted in the matter.

Several advocates, office-bearers and others were present when the memorandum was submitted. Those present included advocate Deepak Mishra, Deepu, Anup Yadav, Vinod Kumar, P.C. Singh, Santosh Tiwari, Abdullah Khan, Ankit Pathak, Ankit Dubey, Rajkumar Yadav, Rohit Kumar Gautam and Shamsher Alam.
