Congress leaders pay tribute to former Rajya Sabha member Shiv Pratap Mishra on death anniversary

Congress members paid tribute to former Rajya Sabha member Shiv Pratap Mishra 'Baba' on his death anniversary at the district Congress office in Pratapgarh. The tribute meeting was held under the leadership of PCC member and district general secretary Irfan Ali.

During the programme, Congress workers garlanded the portrait of late Shiv Pratap Mishra, offered flowers and paid floral tributes to him. Speakers recalled his personality, political life and contribution to the Congress organisation.

District Congress president Dr Neeraj Tripathi said that Baba Mishra was a senior leader of the Indian National Congress from Uttar Pradesh. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1988 to 1994 and represented Uttar Pradesh in the upper house. He also discharged responsibilities as a senior leader in the All India Congress Committee and as national general secretary of the advisory committee of the Indian Youth Congress. He said that late Shiv Pratap Mishra was a resident of Ramnagar Athgawan village in Pratapgarh.

PCC member and district general secretary Irfan Ali said, "Baba Mishra ji was a messiah of the poor and a strong pillar of the Congress party. He devoted his entire life to strengthening the Congress and serving the poor. Today all of us need to walk on the path shown by him."

The tribute meeting was attended by Rohit Kumar Shukla, former president of Junior Bar Association Puratan and PCC member, treasurer Vedant Tiwari, district vice president Ram Shiromani Verma, senior advocate and former general secretary Santosh Tiwari, advocate Balendu Mishra, city president Mohammad Ishtiaq, Karuna Shankar Mishra, Ashiq Ali, Kunda block president Rakesh Gautam, Ghanshyam, Munna Lal Yadav, Mira Devi Gautam, Ram Manohar Gautam, Noor Alam and other office bearers and workers of the district Congress.
