CBI arrests proclaimed offender in fodder scam case after 25 years
The CBI arrested proclaimed offender Satyendra Kumar at Lucknow railway station after more than 25 years in a fodder scam case.
Satyendra Kumar, who had been absconding since the filing of the charge sheet in a fodder scam case, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday (October 23, 2026), the agency said.
The arrest came after the CBI remained on the lookout for Kumar for over 25 years, according to a press statement issued by the agency.
Accused had failed to appear before court
The CBI said Kumar had failed to appear before the court to face trial.
A permanent warrant of arrest was subsequently issued against him by the Court, the agency said.
The CBI said sustained physical and technical surveillance, along with human intelligence, helped trace Kumar’s location to Nepal.
The agency stated that Kumar recently entered India and was travelling by train from Guna (M.P.) to Lucknow (U.P.) on 22.10.2026.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the CBI formed a dedicated team to arrest him while he was travelling from Guna to Lucknow, it said.
Arrest at Lucknow railway station
The agency said its team was deployed at Lucknow Railway Station before the train carrying Kumar arrived.
“At around midnight, the accused was apprehended by the CBI team and subsequently arrested,” the CBI stated.
The arrest followed the agency’s efforts to locate Kumar after he remained unavailable for the trial proceedings, according to the CBI’s statements.
The accused is being brought to Ranchi on transit remand.
He will be produced before the competent court for trial, the CBI further said.
The agency’s account places the arrest after Kumar’s reported movement into India and his train journey from Guna towards Lucknow.
