BJP MLA seeks CM inquiry into Gangster Act action in Bulandshahr constituency

A political controversy has erupted in the Anupshahr assembly constituency of Bulandshahr over action taken under the Gangster Act, with BJP legislator Sanjay Sharma demanding a high-level inquiry into the matter from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The MLA sent a letter to the chief minister around 6 pm on Sunday seeking a thorough investigation into the case. In his letter, Sharma mentioned the Gangster Act action taken against a nominated member of the Aurangabad Nagar Panchayat who is also a senior BJP worker. He has demanded an impartial review of the action.

The legislator has alleged that an atmosphere of political enmity has been created in the Anupshahr assembly constituency over the past several days. According to him, some people are trying to exploit this situation to target party representatives and workers.

Sharma has charged that people with political motives and opposition mindset are wrongly dragging the names of BJP representatives into cases in order to tarnish their image. He expressed apprehension that the Gangster Act action may have been taken without solid evidence or under some political pressure.

The MLA has demanded that the chief minister order an investigation into the entire matter. He said the probe should make clear what was the real reason behind the Gangster Act action and at whose behest this step was taken. He stated that if a strict law like the Gangster Act is used for political or economic gain, it is a matter of serious concern for the democratic system.

Sharma said such action can increase political enmity and social tension in the area. Instead of merely reviewing the action, he has requested the chief minister to order a detailed investigation into the entire matter.

The legislator has also demanded investigation into the role of police officers, alleged land mafia and politically active people in the case. He said strict action should be taken against whoever is found guilty in the investigation.

The controversy highlights growing tensions in the Anupshahr constituency where the BJP MLA has accused unnamed elements of using legal provisions to settle political scores. Sharma's letter to the chief minister underscores his concern that law enforcement mechanisms are being misused to target party workers and representatives rather than genuine criminal elements.

The MLA's demand for a high-level inquiry suggests he believes the Gangster Act provisions, meant to deal with habitual offenders involved in serious crimes, may have been invoked without proper justification in this instance.
