Vikramshila University to Be Revived: CM Samrat Choudhary
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Thursday that the state government will re-establish the historic Vikramshila University within a year as part of its efforts to revive Bihar’s rich educational heritage.
Speaking at the 70th foundation day celebrations of A N College and the 149th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Anugrah Narain Singh in Patna, Choudhary revealed that the land required for the project would be acquired within the next fortnight. He assured that efforts would be made to make the university operational as soon as possible.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously stressed the importance of restoring Vikramshila University during the revival of Nalanda University. Choudhary also noted that the current state government, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, has established several educational institutions and will now prioritize enhancing academic quality through innovation and research.
Additionally, Choudhary mentioned that all pending proposals for new educational institutions in the state had been cleared during the last two Cabinet meetings. To further improve academic standards, Bihar universities will sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with ten leading universities across India. Plans are also in place to enable students from the state to study at top global institutions through future collaborations.
