Bihar Minister Calls for Fast-Tracking RERA Cases and Transparency

Bihar’s urban development and housing minister, Nitish Mishra, has called for faster resolution of homebuyers’ grievances and greater transparency in the state’s real estate sector. During a high-level review meeting on Thursday, Mishra directed officials to expedite the disposal of pending cases before the Bihar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). The meeting was attended by RERA chairman Vivek Kumar Singh, principal secretary Vinay Kumar, inquiry commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh, joint secretary Manoj Kumar, and other senior officials.

Highlighting the importance of protecting homebuyers’ interests, Mishra emphasized that resolving complaints within a fixed timeframe should be a priority. He stated that public interest must remain central to all decisions made by RERA. The minister also stressed the need for strict adherence to construction quality and safety standards, especially with the growing pace of urbanization in Bihar.

Mishra urged officials and stakeholders to adopt earthquake-resistant technologies to ensure safe and durable housing. He pointed out that such measures are crucial for maintaining homebuyers’ trust and ensuring the sustainable growth of the real estate sector in the state. The review meeting also focused on improving grievance redressal mechanisms and ensuring timely completion of housing projects.

The minister’s directives come at a time when the real estate sector in Bihar is witnessing significant expansion, driven by urbanization and increasing housing demand. By prioritizing transparency and accountability, the government aims to build confidence among homebuyers and promote a healthier real estate environment.
