Bahraich hospital performs first arthroscopic Bankart repair surgery in region

Maharaja Suheldev State Autonomous Medical College and Maharshi Balark Hospital in Bahraich has achieved a significant milestone in the field of healthcare by successfully performing the first arthroscopic Bankart repair surgery in the region. The Orthopaedics Department conducted this pioneering procedure using advanced shoulder arthroscopy technique, marking a major advancement in specialized medical services available locally.

The surgery was performed on a 38-year-old patient who had been suffering from a severe shoulder joint problem for an extended period. The patient was afflicted with a Bankart injury, a condition in which the shoulder joint repeatedly dislocates or becomes unstable. The patient's personal details have not been disclosed for privacy reasons. Dr. Mithilesh Kumar, Professor and senior physician in the Orthopaedics Department, led the surgical team that successfully carried out this complex operation.

Dr. Kumar explained that the arthroscopic technique involves using a camera and specialized instruments inserted through small incisions to treat internal shoulder joint injuries. This minimally invasive approach represents a significant step forward in providing patients with better and more advanced treatment options. The surgical team included members from the Orthopaedics Department and supporting healthcare workers, while Dr. Ashish from the Anaesthesia Department provided essential assistance during the operation. The patient has been showing continuous improvement following the surgery.
