Ayodhya Artists Stage Ram-Sugriva Friendship, Bali’s Killing at 117-Year-Old Amethi Ramlila

A grand staging of key episodes from the Ramayana was held on the eighth day of the 117-year-old Shri Ramlila in Chowk Bazaar, located at the district headquarters of Amethi in Gauriganj. The programme took place on Sunday, 18 October 2026, bringing an atmosphere of devotion and enthusiasm to the historic Ramlila event.

The Shri Ramlila was established in 1909. Experienced artists who had come from Ayodhya presented the episodes of the friendship between Lord Shri Ram and Sugriva, the killing of Bali and the burning of Lanka. Through their performances, the artists brought the major Ramayana episodes to life and connected the audience with the story.

During the presentation, the friendship between Lord Shri Ram and Sugriva was shown in an effective manner. This was followed by the episode of Bali’s killing and the depiction of Hanuman ji setting Lanka on fire. The performances presented these scenes as important moments from the Ramayana.

The episodes also conveyed messages about धर्म, friendship and courage, as well as the victory of धर्म over अधर्म. The acting and presentation by the artists from Ayodhya made the programme an important part of the eighth day of the Ramlila.

Several dignitaries were present at the event. Those in attendance included Shri Ramlila Committee Gauriganj president Sheetla Mishra, district pracharak Pawan, Nagar pracharak Manoj, GST Commissioner and social worker Bhupendra Shukla, Aditya Mishra, Rakesh Agrahari, Ajay Agrawal, OP Singh, Dr Mevalal, Ram Ji Agrahari, Kamad Agrahari, Santosh Agrahari, Maheep Agrahari and Tony.

The historic Ramlila of Gauriganj has remained a symbol of religious faith and cultural tradition for years. The आयोजन, which has continued for 117 years, is also introducing the new generation to the ideals of Lord Shri Ram and the episodes of the Ramayana.
