Anti Plastic Gang swaps cloth bags for plastic waste in village cleanliness drive

The Anti Plastic Gang, operated by the Paryavaran Sena, launched a cleanliness campaign against single-use plastic with public participation under the leadership of Paryavaran Sena chief Ajay Krantikari in the southern Purve of Bozhi village in Mandhata block of Pratapgarh.

Rural women and children actively participated in the single-use plastic elimination campaign and cooperated in collecting plastic waste. With everyone's cooperation, more than approximately 10 kilograms of plastic that had been discarded after single use was collected.

Under the 'Jhola in exchange for plastic' scheme, the Anti Plastic Gang distributed cloth bags to several people in exchange for plastic. The women appeared happy to receive cloth bags in exchange for plastic.

The women said that until now they used to burn plastic. But now they will not burn plastic. They will collect plastic, take cloth bags in return and cooperate in saving the environment.

Impressed by the efforts of the Anti Plastic Gang, dozens of people from the village joined the gang and took a pledge to save the environment by abandoning plastic.

Ajay Krantikari, chief of Paryavaran Sena and Anti Plastic Gang, who was leading the programme, said that single-use plastic is damaging our ecosystem. Along with pollution from plastic waste, our health is also being affected. While motivating women not to burn plastic and not to throw it here and there, he said that burning plastic is illegal and a social crime. The toxic smoke emanating from it is polluting the environment as well as causing many diseases related to breathing and asthma, and the problem of global warming is increasing.

Anti Plastic Gang chief Ajay Krantikari appealed to everyone to eliminate plastic pollution by abandoning single-use plastic and emphasizing the use of cloth and paper bags. There was considerable enthusiasm among all the people about the campaign and everyone promised to contribute to climate protection by making the village clean and green.

Present on the occasion were Vitan Devi, Bhaiyaram Prajapati, Sunil Kumar, Manju Devi, Phula Devi, Sangita Devi, Babli, Ravi Kumar and disaster volunteer Naman Kumar Tiwari along with others.
