Allahabad High Court judge inspects Shravasti jail, directs timely prisoner care

High Court judge Smt. Garima Prasad from the Allahabad High Court conducted a thorough inspection of the Shravasti District Jail along with District Magistrate Annapurna Garg and Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhati. The judicial team examined the facilities being provided to the inmates and reviewed the overall functioning of the correctional facility.

During the inspection, the Hon'ble Justice, the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police personally met with the prisoners lodged in the jail and inquired about their well-being. The visiting officials took detailed stock of the arrangements and facilities available to the inmates. Justice Prasad directed the jail superintendent to ensure that all facilities are provided to the prisoners in a timely manner without any delay.

The inspection covered multiple sections of the jail premises. The team visited and examined the kitchen, food grain storage area, women's barracks, men's barracks, juvenile barracks and the jail hospital. They conducted a comprehensive review of each facility to assess its condition and adequacy.

The Hon'ble Justice and accompanying officials listened to the problems and grievances raised by the prisoners during their interaction. The jail superintendent was specifically instructed to resolve these issues promptly. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining robust sanitation and cleanliness arrangements within the jail premises.

Justice Prasad issued clear directions to ensure regular health check-ups for all inmates and to maintain the quality of food being served to the prisoners. She stressed that all arrangements should conform to the prescribed standards and norms.

During the visit, the Hon'ble Justice distributed fruits and gifts among the women prisoners.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Vineet Yadav, the jail superintendent, deputy jailer and other officers and staff members were present on the occasion.
