A case of alleged irregularities in the fertilizer meant for farmers has come to light at the Sadhan Cooperative Society in Nagla Ajmeri village of the Junawai block area. District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal has issued strict instructions to register an FIR against the society’s in-charge secretary.
The matter surfaced during an inspection of the fertilizer stock brought for distribution among farmers at the Nagla Ajmeri Cooperative Society. During the verification, 27 bags of NPK 12:32:16 fertilizer were found missing from the recorded stock.
The inspection also revealed a major difference between the entries in the register and the physical stock available at the society. Based on the discrepancy, suspicion has been raised that the in-charge secretary may have sold the fertilizer on the black market without distributing it to the farmers.
The report of the irregularity was submitted to District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal. Taking the matter seriously, the District Magistrate expressed strong displeasure and described the issue as playing with the interests of farmers.
The District Magistrate has directed the District Cooperative Officer to take immediate action against the in-charge secretary of the concerned Sadhan Cooperative Society. The instructions include filing an FIR against the secretary over the missing fertilizer stock.
He has also ordered that the cost of the 27 missing bags be recovered from the secretary. In addition, departmental action has been ordered against the concerned officials and ADCOs found responsible for negligence at the supervisory level.
The District Magistrate made it clear that black-marketing of fertilizer meant for farmers would not be tolerated in any form. The action has reportedly caused concern in other cooperative societies across the district as well.
The directions follow the stock verification at Nagla Ajmeri and are focused on fixing responsibility for the difference between the recorded quantity and the fertilizer physically found at the society. The case now involves the proposed FIR, recovery of the value of the missing 27 bags and departmental action against officials accused of negligence in supervision.
