Young couple ends life in Uttar Pradesh after families reject their relationship

The bodies of 17-year-old Sudha, daughter of Bhagwan Das, and 19-year-old Anil, son of Yogendra Kumar, were found hanging from the same mango tree in a field some distance from their village. Both had used separate dupattas to hang themselves from different branches of the tree.

The incident took place in Sanjani village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Baniyather police station. As soon as word of the deaths spread, panic gripped the area and a large crowd of local residents gathered at the spot where the bodies were discovered.

Both the deceased belonged to the same village and had been in a relationship for a considerable period of time. According to initial information gathered by police and statements from villagers, Anil and Sudha wanted to marry each other and had been putting pressure on their respective families to allow the union.

However, both sets of parents were firmly opposed to the relationship and refused to give their consent for the marriage. The couple had been deeply distressed and under significant stress due to their families' rigid stance against their proposed wedding.

Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led the young couple to take such an extreme step.
