Woman dies hours after childbirth, private hospital found locked after her death

A 26-year-old woman died after childbirth in Pratapgarh district, with her family alleging negligence during treatment at a private hospital. The woman's condition deteriorated within hours of delivery, and when relatives returned to the hospital after her death, they found it locked with the staff missing from the premises.

Khushboo Jaiswal, wife of Akash Jaiswal from Rajapur Mahotri village in Durgaganj, was admitted to a private hospital in Raniganj for delivery on Sunday morning. According to the family, Khushboo gave birth to a baby girl during the delivery. However, approximately one to two hours after the child's birth, her condition began to deteriorate suddenly.

The family has alleged that the woman's bleeding would not stop. Hospital doctors indicated that two units of blood were needed. As her condition became critical, the doctors at the private facility referred Khushboo to Jaunpur district hospital.

The family was transporting the woman to Jaunpur when her condition worsened further on the way. They then brought her to Pratapgarh Medical College instead, where doctors examined her and declared Khushboo dead.

Khushboo had been married to Akash Jaiswal on 30 April 2025. Akash works in agriculture and farming. The death of the mother just hours after the birth of her newborn daughter has left the family in mourning.

When relatives went to the private hospital in Raniganj after learning of the woman's death, they found the facility locked. They have alleged that people associated with the hospital had left the location. The incident was reported to the police.

Raniganj Circle Officer Prashant Raj Hudda stated that the woman's body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem report. Police have begun an investigation into the matter.

The incident took place in Rajapur Mahotri village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Raniganj police station in Pratapgarh district. The case has raised questions about the standard of care at the private hospital and the circumstances that led to the woman's death shortly after what should have been a routine childbirth.
