Varuna river flooding displaces families, submerges powerloom units in Varanasi's Nakki Ghat

The flood situation in the Nakki Ghat area of Varanasi is becoming increasingly severe, with the Varuna river's rising waters entering residential areas and forcing several families to evacuate to safer locations.

The flooding has been triggered by backflow in the Varuna river caused by the rising water level of the Ganga river. The floodwaters have now reached inhabited localities, compelling many families to abandon their homes.
