Two labourers were injured after coming into contact with a low-hanging 11 thousand-volt high-tension electricity line near Yadav Ground in Hathras. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in the Shri Nagar locality, which falls under the Hathras Gate police station area.

The injured labourers were identified as Rihan, son of Lal Mohammad, 17, and Ram Singh, about 50, both residents of Shri Nagar. They were reportedly on their way to do catering work when the accident occurred.

According to Rihan, around seven-eight people were travelling in the vehicle. The two labourers came into contact with the high-tension line near Yadav Ground and were injured.

Following the incident, a crowd gathered at the spot. With the help of local people, both injured men were taken to Bagla Combined District Hospital for treatment. Their treatment is continuing at the hospital.

The low-hanging high-tension line has also raised concern among local residents. They alleged that the 11 thousand-volt electricity line near Yadav Ground is hanging at a dangerously low height. According to them, this creates a risk of an accident at all times.

Local people said that children play at the same spot, people walk there and vehicles also pass through the area. They expressed concern that the danger could affect others as well if the line is not made safe.

After two people were injured after coming into contact with the electricity line, local residents demanded that the Electricity Department take immediate notice of the matter. They said that if the line is not raised to a safe height in time, a major accident could take place in the future.

Residents have also asked the Electricity Department to inspect the site. They demanded that the high-tension line be moved to a safe height and that the necessary safety arrangements be put in place near Yadav Ground.
