Ranchi police have made significant progress in the investigation of the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Nivaranpur. Late on Wednesday night, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) apprehended the two accused involved in the incident.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, around 12:30 AM, when two individuals arrived near the RSS office in a car. CCTV footage revealed that they parked the vehicle at a distance, walked to the office, and hurled petrol-filled glass bottles into the premises. The first bottle, thrown at 12:38 AM, landed on the roof, causing a small fire that extinguished itself due to the absence of flammable materials. The second bottle fell near the entrance but did not ignite.

At the time of the attack, approximately 20 people, including RSS workers, students, drivers, cooks, and other staff, were sleeping inside the office. The sound of the explosion woke them, but the extent of the incident became clear only later in the morning when someone inspected the roof. This marked the first such attack on the RSS office, which has been operational since 1990.

Following the attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and forensic teams visited the site on Wednesday afternoon to collect evidence. They examined the broken glass bottles on the roof and gathered samples for further analysis. Meanwhile, senior political leaders, including the Leader of the Opposition, also visited the site to assess the situation.

The two accused attempted to flee the state via the Swarna Jayanti Express. Although police initially identified them at Koderma Junction, the train had already departed. Acting swiftly, the police stopped the train at Rafiganj station in Bihar, where the suspects were detained.

On Thursday, the accused were held in custody at Ranchi's Kotwali police station. However, one of them managed to escape by breaking a window. He was later recaptured in the Chanho area while attempting to flee on a bus. During the chase, the accused tried to snatch a weapon from the police, prompting officers to open fire. The individual sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The RSS has lodged an official complaint at the Chutia police station, and multiple police teams have been formed to investigate the case further. Authorities have assured that the entire incident will be thoroughly probed and resolved soon.
