Thieves strike community health center in Bara Gaon for sixth time in seven years

Unidentified thieves broke into the Community Health Center in Bara Gaon village of Lodha on Friday night, stealing cash and medical equipment after vandalizing the facility. The intruders forced open the gate latch and made away with two ceiling fans, two bedsheets, and 650 rupees in cash from prescription receipts. They also scattered furniture and other items inside the premises and cut the wires of the CCTV cameras and cooler before fleeing the scene.

The theft came to light on Saturday morning when doctors reported for duty and discovered the broken gate latch. They found belongings strewn across the health center, severed camera and cooler wires, and realized that cash, fans, and bedsheets had been stolen. Dr Chandra Mohan Sharma, the officer in-charge of the facility, immediately lodged a complaint at Lodha police station against unknown persons.

This incident marks the sixth burglary at the health center in just seven years, raising serious concerns about security at the medical facility. The repeated thefts point to inadequate protection measures at a critical healthcare institution that serves the local community. Despite the installation of CCTV cameras, the thieves disabled the surveillance system by cutting wires, suggesting they were familiar with the premises.

Lodha police station in-charge Narendra Singh confirmed that a written complaint has been received and a search operation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. The police are investigating the matter and looking for leads that might help track down the thieves. The recurring nature of these thefts has prompted questions about the need for enhanced security arrangements at the community health center to prevent future incidents and ensure the safety of medical equipment and supplies meant for patient care.
