Sumitra Mahajan's 'job' joke after meeting Mohan Yadav triggers political buzz

A light-hearted remark by former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan after meeting Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has triggered political discussions in Indore. Mahajan, popularly known as Tai, met the Chief Minister at Residency Kothi in Indore.

When the media asked her the reason for the meeting, Mahajan replied in a joking tone, “हां, नौकरी मांगने आई थी।” Her brief response quickly became a talking point in political circles.

Mahajan has represented Indore as a Member of Parliament eight times and has also served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. However, the actual purpose of her meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is not clear at this stage. There is also no confirmation that she sought any post.

The meeting also included a discussion on Indore’s water crisis and leakage in the Narmada pipeline. Mahajan suggested preparing a digital map of the city’s pipelines.

Such digital mapping could help identify the location of pipelines and detect leakages, according to the details shared about the suggestion. Mahajan said that pipeline leakages affect the water supply and that there is a possibility of a water crisis in the coming period.

Questions have also been raised about how much action has been taken on the digital-mapping suggestion made earlier.

Thus, while Tai’s “job” joke has remained at the centre of political discussion, her suggestion on digital mapping has brought attention to Indore’s water crisis and raised questions about the administration’s preparedness.
