Shravasti residents gherao PWD officials over waterlogged roads, demand immediate repairs

Public anger erupted in Shravasti over dilapidated roads and severe waterlogging, with residents gheraoing PWD officials at the spot. A video of the heated confrontation has gone viral on social media.

The public outburst occurred in Jamunha, an aspirational block, where market residents enduring hellish conditions surrounded the PWD Executive Engineer, SDO, and JE. The video of the sharp exchange between officials and angry locals has been widely circulated online.

Irate traders and villagers have issued a direct warning that if drainage and road repairs are not carried out soon, they will shut down the market and take to the streets in protest.

After facing strong opposition, the department has been forced onto the back foot. The matter was defused only after officials gave verbal assurances to first clear the waterlogging and then immediately undertake road construction work.
