A dispute has arisen over the gradient of a road being constructed under the MLC quota in Jaganpur village of Shamli’s Kairana tehsil area. The issue concerns both the direction of the road’s slope and the drainage of water from the village. Villagers have alleged that some people are obstructing the road’s gradient from being set towards the west. They have submitted a petition to the District Magistrate, seeking action in the matter.
The villagers have demanded that the road be given a westward slope towards a pond so that the village’s wastewater can be drained properly. According to them, a pond spread over around 72 bigha is located to the west of the village. The water from the village’s drainage system reaches this pond.
Some roads are currently being constructed in the village under the MLC quota. The road being built from Bijnesh’s house to Jitendra’s house is being given a slope towards the east. The villagers said there is no route for water drainage in the eastern direction. Because of this, water is accumulating on the road.
The villagers said that giving the road a westward slope towards the pond is necessary for a permanent solution to the drainage problem. However, they alleged that some villagers are creating obstacles to this change in the road’s gradient. They said the construction work has stopped because of the dispute.
The waterlogging on the route is also creating difficulties for people using the road. According to the villagers, water remains accumulated on the road and dirt is spreading in the area. This has affected around 200 families.
The villagers said people are facing problems while bringing fodder for their animals. They also said that children are facing difficulties in going to school because of the waterlogging and the condition of the route. The problem of bringing fodder for livestock continues to trouble residents, the villagers said.
The villagers have requested the District Magistrate to order an investigation into the matter and ensure that the road is given a westward slope towards the pond. They said this would create a permanent arrangement for the drainage of water from the village and provide relief from the waterlogging problem.
In this connection, the villagers submitted a petition to the District Magistrate on three October 2026, seeking the necessary action. The dispute has also been described as a matter concerning Jamalpur, while the detailed complaint relates to Jaganpur village in the Kairana tehsil area of Shamli.
