Sataū Temple Truck Accident Death Toll Rises To 16 After 78-Year-Old Dies

The death toll in the truck accident near the Sheetla Mata temple in Sataū village has risen to 16. A 16th person died on Tuesday morning, 52 hours after struggling for life following the accident.

The deceased has been identified as 78-year-old Motiram Prajapati. He died while undergoing treatment at Link Hospital. Motiram used to run a prasad shop near the gate of the temple premises and supported his family through the business. His death has left the village in mourning.

The accident took place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, when an uncontrolled truck ran over devotees near the Sheetla Mata temple. Motiram was critically injured in the incident.

According to doctors, a blood clot had formed in one of his blood vessels because of the injuries. Despite continuous treatment and monitoring, doctors could not save him. With his death, the number of people killed in the accident has reached 16.

Meanwhile, critically injured Sanjay Sharma, a resident of Sheopur, was shifted to AIIMS Bhopal by air ambulance at 12:10 am during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. He was taken to the hospital before Tuesday night.

Both of Sanjay’s legs were crushed in the accident. He had reached the Sheetla Mata temple with his family to offer prayers. Sanjay has already lost his elder brother, Mahesh Sharma, and his young son, Shaurya, in the same accident.

The tragedy has caused deep shock to Sanjay’s family. Arrangements are also being made to send another injured person, Kalpana Parihar, to AIIMS.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that there should be no shortage in the treatment of those injured in the accident. The administration is continuing efforts to provide treatment to the seriously injured, while the death toll has risen following Motiram Prajapati’s death at Link Hospital.
