Sambhal district launches tourism push with restoration of 26 ancient pilgrimage sites

The district administration of Sambhal is undertaking comprehensive measures to give the district a new identity in the field of historical and religious tourism. The initiative aims to firmly establish Sambhal on the tourism map of the country through a series of ambitious development projects focused on reviving ancient pilgrimage sites and creating modern tourist infrastructure.

Giving momentum to the revival plan for pilgrimage sites, the path has been cleared for the restoration of Chandra Tirth at an estimated cost of approximately 1 crore 20 lakh rupees. Following the release of the first installment, the ground-breaking ceremony for this ambitious project was successfully completed.

The District Magistrate, while providing details about the project, stated that at a cost of 1.20 crore rupees, several facilities are being constructed within the Chandra Tirth complex for the convenience of tourists and devotees. These include a multipurpose hall, a grand entrance gate, flooring and beautification of the premises, and public amenities.

The District Magistrate informed that restoration work is currently in progress at approximately 26 ancient pilgrimage sites and wells across the district. With the rainy season coming to an end, all these development works will be completed within the next 2 to 3 months. Additionally, the action plan and estimates for the rejuvenation of the remaining other pilgrimage sites have already been approved at the government level, and work on them will be started in a phased manner.

To prominently bring Sambhal onto the religious and tourism map, the construction of a state-of-the-art Tourism Facilitation Centre has been proposed at an estimated cost of approximately 9 crore 20 lakh rupees. The necessary land for this centre has been identified and the required process for felling or transplantation of trees is being completed. This centre will be ready within the next 6 months.

The main objective of this centre is to provide tourists with comprehensive information about all the mythological, historical and religious sites of Sambhal under one roof, along with high-quality facilities.

This initiative will not only promote tourism and religious activities in Sambhal, but will also lead to a massive increase in local employment and business opportunities.
