Allegations of severe mismanagement have surfaced at the temporary cow shelter in Gram Panchayat Buddhanagar Khandwa, under Chandausi Development Block in Sambhal district. The report by Rajat Malhotra says the shelter is facing serious disorder, while those responsible have allegedly remained silent.

The shelter is meant for cattle protection, and the government is providing a budget running into lakhs of rupees for this purpose. However, the report says conditions on the ground are very different.

GPS-tagged photographs taken inside the shelter premises at 11:34 am on 08 October 2026 show waterlogging and mud spread across the compound. An attached photo also shows the condition of the shelter. With no proper arrangement for fodder and water, the cattle are allegedly suffering from hunger.

Local villagers said employees assigned to look after the shelter do not provide fodder and water regularly. They also said that cleaning is not carried out, because of which the cattle are falling ill.

The villagers have demanded that the Sambhal District Magistrate take cognisance of the matter, order a surprise inspection of the shelter and take strict action against the negligent persons responsible.
