Samajwadi MLA accuses Raebareli police of assault and insulting Pasi community

Samajwadi Party legislator Shyam Sundar Bharti has accused the police of misconduct and physical assault during an incident in Raebareli, alleging that officers behaved rudely with him and other party members. Bharti claimed that the police insulted the Pasi community and that a minister was also involved in the alleged humiliation.

The MLA stated that he, along with the district president and party workers, were physically assaulted by the police. "We were treated with misbehaviour and were chased away. Our workers and we ourselves suffered injuries to our bodies," Bharti said, describing the confrontation. He demanded the removal of City Kotwali in-charge Shiv Shankar and called for action against the policemen responsible for the alleged misconduct.

According to the Samajwadi Party MLA, the District Magistrate has constituted an inquiry committee and sought three days to investigate the matter. Bharti also informed that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is scheduled to visit Raebareli on either September 21 or September 22. Shyam Sundar Bharti provided details of the entire incident while addressing the media about the alleged police action against him and his party colleagues.
